Bye bye 2008!

Where did you begin 2008? at a party at my house, dancing, drinking champagne and thinking in my head "it's not you, it's the E talking"

What was your status by Valentine's Day?
single-ish?

Did you have any encounters with the police? i'm a good girl me! oh actually last week I had to ring them because my neighbour has gone nuts and decided to play really LOUD music at 3 am.

Where did you go on vacation?
Berlin, Sardinia

What concerts/shows did you go to?
I don't really do gigs anymore so blah. I think I saw The Blow (or was that last year?) possibly Naive New Beaters, Soulwax, Chromatics of course the sexual Sebastien Tellier and stuff like Busy P, Teki Latex, Petits Pilous all year round. Ricardo Villalobos was pretty banging, put me in a very very good mood and will probably remain the highlight of 2008.

Where do you live now? Paris baby!

Describe your birthday:
I had champagne breakfast with A.B on the balcony at my flat; champagne and cakes at the Loir dans la Théière with my friends; champagne and olives at 7pm with other friends; champagne with the meal at Palais de Tokyo with my parents at 9pm.
Then the next day, obviously a massive party with champagne.

What's one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2008?
Call a girl a fucking whore; get a crush on a hip 19 year old; go to Fabric by myself. Yeah.

What has/have been your favorite moment(s)? Apart from Ricardo Villalobos? Being stuck on a Italian motorway with A.B under 35 degrees at 1pm with useless bikes, almost no water and 8 kilometers to walk to the nearest beach/civilization. Disastrous but I never laughed so much.

What was your best month?
I guess summer.

Who has been your best drinking buddy?
Caro!

Made new friends?
The parisian crew definitely came together, then thanks to the blog I also met a few of the coolest girls around. I am also happy me and Romain finally realised that we looooooved the same bangers and we have been sharing hot tunes since and destroying every house party with our fine ipod skillz.
Some people I met that I thought were cool ended up being disappointing. Blah.

Favorite nights out? I have to say it again, the night of Ricardo Villalobos; but also the night of crazy rappers and Bobmo at the rex club; the Useless nights at la Java (especially the one with the Amsterdam mushrooms); all the nights that involved listening to Mr Oizo; tne night where I realised everything was gonna be okay.

Any regrets?
Not buying the Vanessa Bruno dress in the sale at Urban Outfitters? Am I shallow?

Overall, how would you rate this year? I'd say 7. Crazy first 6 months, quiet last 6 months.

Have any life changes in 2008? Moving back to Paris but still getting back together with A.B, finishing the MA...

Change your hairstyle?
Do you have a New Year's resolution? As always, stop smoking, and stop nagging A.B about when he's gonna move to Paris...

Did anything embarrassing? Yes. Oh yes!

Are you happy to see 2008 go?
Not sure. It means next year I'll be 26. Fuck.

Drank Starbucks in 2008? Dude one of my best buddies works at Starbucks.

Been naughty or nice? I wish I could tell more but I guess a bit of both.

What are you wishing for in 2009?My flat to look perfect, the gallery to finally come together and then we'll see...

You have convinced me that maybe my blog is not so bad.
I will try and come back in 2009 when I have finally moved into my new flat and sorted out my wardrobe.
Hopefully I will also be all rejunenated by all the foie gras and canoodling, full of new ides and projects.
Merry Xmas everyone!

Clap de fin

It's no surprise that I have been more and more absent from this blog recently-it's not that I'm bored, I guess I have kind of ran out of things to say/show.

It's been a fun year though and I will probably keep looking at the archives for a while and who knows, I might be back with something else.

But right now I feel that it's best for me to say bye: I'm not a trendy blogger with 10,000 views, I don't get sent free products, I'm not rumi, alix, karla or lisa, I'm not skinny or tall, not american or swedish, not rich enough to buy maje and marant, I can't be bothered to spend hours looking for vintage clothes and will never make it into Glamour magazine, I eat cupcakes and macarons cos they're good and not because they will make a good photo op, I have never been photographed by facehunter, I don't 'do' fashion week or press sales....
I love you all though!

Xmas wishlist..

Because the time has come, right?
So this is what I'm hoping for this year...

Hiya mum/dad/bf/granny! A Roberts radio, because I miss listening to the FIP and Nova, and these ones are so cute too.

A year gym membership, because 2009 is the new buff.

Françoise Hardy's biography: a star-biography a year keeps the heart happy.

Justice, A Cross the Universe DVD, I know it's ridiculous but I want it anyway.

Lots of products from Kiehls ....so after my hard work out at the gym I can relax in the bath reading the Françoise Hardy book whilst listening to the radio before applying the lightweight lotion then falling asleep on the sofa with the Justice dvd still on.
And you?

"It's all about membership"

Aww Yeahhrr.
I have been lazy, I know.
It's so cold at the moment and all I want to do is hibernate with the second series of "Gossip Girl" and a plate of cheese ad chutney and maybe some red wine?

But the, unexpectedly a friend from London comes to Paris with her dj bag and funny stories and gossip and you end up getting dressed up and drinking champagne on the sofas of a plush club.
Not feeling very festive thought. Maybe London this weekend with mulled wine and mince pies will help...

Toxic

Hiya.
So in short, last weekend, A.B came to visit, it snowed and it rained and it was horrible but it was fun at the same time, you know what I mean?

We got dressed up to party a little and went to the Useless night to dance to banging Toxic Avenger, and I hadn't heard "Rollin and Scratchin" in a club in a while and it felt good.

How are you?

Daytime intermission

So I disappeared for a few days and I must apologise: technical problems have been making my blogging difficult, but I'm hoping to have the situation back to normal soon.

I have been working at an okay company for the past week, which makes the temping acceptable, and there's no uniform to wear, that means dresses are back on!
It was St Catherine day in France on Tuesday, do you know about it?
It's kind of stupid but anyway, on St Catherine day, all the women aged 25 and still unmarried have to wear some kind of ridiculous hat and parade around in the streets...

I think the tradition is kind of dying now (and it should be really, this is not 1930 anymore) as I didn't see any hat this year, and it's only when my mum came to my house with flowers for me that I remembered.

Shit, I'm 25, and not even engaged! Ha. That prompted me to look at the Cartier 3 gold ring yesterday whilst waking by the store, and dream that maybe, one day...

Bad girls need love too

Ah bon?

http://vimeo.com/2292552 from dro on Vimeo

See you saturday.

Daft Punk song of the week: "Rollin and Scratchin"

This mustard skirt I just can't get enough of, my hair on the other hand just drives me crazy.
What do you do when your hair is straightened but still kind of curly and you can't really grow an afro or have long silky hair either?
Pff I give up.

Also, I'm after a nice foundation (which I've never worn) or something to give my face a nice glow...Anyone with good tips on where to buy the best black skin beauty products can help?
So yes. "Rollin' and Scratchin' ".

Back to the basics.
I never went to the "Alive 97" tour (even though my dad had offered), I was too much into Blur for that.

Right now, as Mr Oizo kills The Bloody Beetroots; old-school vs new school; the debate continues there.

Violet Pivoine

A simple outfit, for a fun day.

Bunked off work, couldn’t be bothered to go and yet fill some more administrative forms when I’ve studied for 5 fucking years! Why!

Anyway also, I’m kind of glad not to be moving to Amsterdam-did I mention I didn’t get the job? Don’t even want to talk about it, I’m kind of getting used to rejection now. But yeah Paris is good right now, especially since most of my girl-friends are tangled up in some kind of dating nightmare involving 6 people. It’s quite fun being the bystander who gets all the gossip, the juicy bits and the drama.

I’m also deep into DIY for my future flat, hopefully it will be ready for new year’s eve. . .

Les Nuits de La Pleine Lune

Saturday is a god day to talk about films don’t you think? Personally, I love Eric Rohmer with a passion-even though I know that some people hate him with as much intensity. My favourite films of his are “Autumn Tale”, “Love in the Afternoon” and “My friend’s boyfriend’s”. I love the characters, the intense dialogues, and the crazy love stories.

But there’s a Rohmer film that tops it all for me, and that’s “Les Nuits de La Pleine Lune” aka “Full Moon in Paris”. It’s set in Paris in the early 80’s and has a delicious Elli and Jacno soundtrack and a very young Fabrice Luchini. . .

To sum it up quickly, in the film, Louise (Pascale Ogier) is torn between peaceful times with her boyfriend in the Parisian suburbs and a more exciting life in the city where she also has an apartment.

Ensue a lot of absurd situations and quiproquos, the essence of the film resides in the scene where Louise starts sobbing uncontrollably: the viewer who knows that the 25th year-old actress died shortly after the film of an heart attack can’t helped but be moved by her fragility... Yeah very uplifiting I know.

If you can’t see the film yet, at least listen to these:

Winter Warmer

Okay I know this dress doesn't exactly screams warmth-and it's rather short, but for some reason I rarely wear it in the summer, I always wait till it gets a bit cold and pair it with thick tights or leggings, and some shorts underneath, just in case...

Some boots, a big coat, and here I am, ready to brave the cold!
I could actually do with a nice hot chocolate now..Hmmmm

Can't believe it's already Xmas in 6 weeks...Are you excited? Why do every year I plan to buy presents in advance but never get round to it?? Bring on the crazy queues in the department stores on the 24th at 6pm...

Number One

Back in Paris after three short and sweet days in London.

Bad bad weather but lots of good times ( it was A.B's 27th birthday), and only a little bit of shopping. (Primark is so bad for clothes right now)

But thankfully a few weeks ago I had sent Phantomas aka DVNO (“No need to ask my name, to figure out how cool I am!”) on a little AA mission for me during his trip to NYC. And finally I have the mustard skirt I have been longing for! (Coming soon: the perfect sexy black skirt)
